October 11, 2010 A busy fall

I have been feeling guilty that I’ve only been able to post once a week with my current schedule, but I don’t know if that will change much at all for the time being.
Fall is always the busiest time at work, and losing daylight doesn’t help matters.
I’ve been reading some great food books, so at least I’m thinking about cooking, even if I haven’t actually managed to cook as much as I’d like to. I’m poring over my “McGee,” that is, On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen by Harold McGee, which is a fascinating and useful book on the history and science of pretty much any ingredient or dish you can think of.
I’ve got some recipes to add final tweaks and do a final test so I can post. Though I have to admit, recently I’ve been cooking panfuls of masala sprouted lentils and butternut squash, a spicy, comforting concoction in this rainy Seattle weather, but little else.
At any rate, I wanted to say that I’m still here, at least in spirit; and I’ll be striving for 2 posts a week, so wish me luck.
